LSU, Brian Kelly not suspending receiver over weapons charge ahead of FSU season opener

In this story:
Florida State is set to conclude its two-game series against the LSU Tigers in 2023 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL. That's a venue most Seminole fans are familiar with after attending last year's 35-32 Cheez-It Bowl victory over the Oklahoma Sooners.
The last time these two teams met in New Orleans brought FSU fans a thrilling ending when defensive back Shyheim Brown blocked the game-tying kick as the seconds dwindled to reject the Tigers' attempt to take the 23-24 score into overtime. Many Nole fans will remember the garnet and gold takeover in the Crescent City, and a few more will remember the five catches for 42 yards that LSU junior wide receiver Malik Nabers had in that blast in the bayou.
Nabers was placed under arrest on Bourbon Street pertaining to an illegal weapons charge during Mardi Gras last month. It appears after an agreement between him and the Orleans Parrish District Attorney that he will not face any reprimand by the state or the university other than "internal discipline" heading into next season, according to The Advocates' Wilson Alexander.
Confirmed with Brian Kelly that #LSU receiver Malik Nabers will not miss any game time as a result of the arrest and misdemeanor gun charge that was dropped. Kelly said there was internal discipline.

Nabers has 100 career catches for 1,434 yards and seven touchdowns in his two seasons with the Tigers and led all LSU receivers with 1,017 yards last year; he is expected to be a surefire option for assumed starting quarterback Jayden Daniels in 2023.
According to USA Today and a report from WAFB, all charges have been dropped. He was released on his own recognizance on February 23, under the stipulation that he surrendered the firearm he was illegally in possession of.

The season opener should stand as a measuring stick to gauge where the Seminoles are before returning home six days later to face Southern Miss and back-to-back road tests against Boston College and Clemson to close out September.
Florida State is an early one-point favorite in the matchup down south, and all the preseason hype for both programs should bring another edge-of-your-seat thriller to kick off 2023, a season in which hopes and expectations for the Noles run high. The game is set to take place on September 3rd.
