No. 3 Florida State Survives Slugfest at Boston College, 31-29

In this story:
The No. 3 Florida State Seminoles opened ACC play against The Boston College Eagles on the road in Boston in front of 41k fans for the annual "Red Bandanna Game," which takes place in memory of Welles Crowther, a former BC athlete who sacrificed himself while helping rescue people in the World Trade Center after the 9/11 tragedy.
Boston College came out of the gate with a seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive ending in a 32-yard pass and catch from Thomas Castellanos to wide receiver Lewis Bond.
FSU running back Trey Benson and the Seminoles responded with back-to-back runs, and wide receiver Johnny Wilson was able to get into Eagles territory. The Seminoles would settle for a 29-yard field goal from kicker Ryan Fitzgerald.
The Seminole defense started sluggish, allowing another scoring drive in Chestnut Hill. Taking over seven minutes off the clock, the Eagles settled for a field goal after a critical pass breakup by defensive back Kevin Knowles II and a goalline stand.
FSU's second scoring drive would come aided by big runs from running back Lawrance Toafili and Travis, which ended in a 19-yard score from transfer tight end Jaheim Bell to tie the game.

The Eagles showed a lack of discipline up front on both sides of the ball, generating ten drive-crippling penalties for 68 yards before the half. Florida State would get its second score of the day from a six-yard rush by Benson.
Late into the first half, Travis would leave the game with an apparent shoulder injury, and backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker took the final snap before the third quarter.
Florida State came out of the gate swinging with big plays by Wilson and tight end Jaheim Bell to get the 'Noles within scoring range, and tight end Preston Daniel hauled in his second career touchdown on a four-yard pass from Travis.
After an interception thrown by Castellanos hauled in by linebacker DJ Lundy, a massive catch by Bell put FSU at the goal line. Lundy would score on a trick play, making the game 31-10.
The Eagles would respond with a score but miss the point after bringing the score to 31-16. A squib kick by Boston College was fumbled by Benson, which gave hope to a deflated team.
Florida State's defense stayed strong with a 4th down red zone stop by defensive tackle Braden Fiske and linebacker Tatum Bethune giving the ball back to Travis and Co., but the 'Noles would later give the ball back with a scoop and score by Khari Johnson. The Eagles' two-point attempt was no good.
The game's final score would come from Boston College, making it a 31-29 nailbiting victory for FSU. Florida State will travel to South Carolina next week to face the Clemson Tigers before a much-needed bye week.
