Ron DeSantis Lights up Florida Capital in FSU Football’s Honor

There is still plenty worth celebrating in Tallahassee after a memorable season for the Seminoles.

Florida State's 2023 season didn't end on a high note in the Orange Bowl but there is still plenty worth celebrating in Tallahassee this year. The Seminoles finished 13-1 and won their first ACC Championship in nine years while totaling more victories than Miami and Florida combined.

That success will be reflected at the Florida Capitol over the next couple of days as the new year begins. Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Saturday that the capitol would be lit up in garnet and gold until January 2 to honor FSU's accomplishments.

DeSantis has been a vocal supporter of the Seminoles after the program was snubbed from the College Football Playoff earlier in December. He recommended setting aside $1 million for the program's potential legal efforts - which could potentially be useful now that Florida State is taking the Atlantic Coast Conference to court.

The Florida Governor is a candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election. He released the news prior to FSU's defeat against the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Seminoles have achieved a better record every year during the four seasons that Mike Norvell has been with the program. He helped Florida State continue winning streaks against Miami (x3), Florida (x2), and LSU (x2) while snapping a seven-game skid to Clemson in Death Valley.

Florida State's 19-game winning streak was the second-longest in program history. The Seminoles have won 23 of their last 27 games dating back to the beginning of the 2022 season.
