Florida State hasn't missed a beat despite coming out of a BYE week against a confident Virginia Tech team. The Seminoles went right down the field on their opening possession for a touchdown and two-point conversion before quickly forcing the Hokies to go three-and-out.

That set up quarterback Jordan Travis and the offense in excellent field position and they went right to work in taking advantage of it. A completion to tight end Markeston Douglas and three straight runs from Trey Benson moved the Seminoles into Virginia Tech territory.

Facing a 3rd and 7 in field goal range, Florida State chose to put the ball on the ground in an effort to surprise Virginia Tech. The move worked as redshirt junior running back Lawrance Toafili exploded up the middle and into the second wave of defenders.

It looked like Toafili would set up FSU with a first and goal after being wrapped up by two Hokies. Instead, as the three players went to the ground, Toafili 'swag-surfed' over the top of them into the end zone for a 28-yard touchdown.

The play was eerily similar to the ridiculous score he recorded against Clemson back in 2021.

The touchdown fired up Doak Campbell Stadium and has the Seminoles running away with the momentum. Florida State leads 15-0 with nearly four minutes remaining in the opening quarter.

The offense has struggled on the ground early in the season but has already racked up 13 rushes for 98 yards and a touchdown against the Hokies. Toafili is leading the way with three rushes for 43 yards and a score.
