Florida State had a quiet year at the 2023 NFL Draft as only one former player from the program was selected. However, the situation isn't what it appears to be on the surface as the team had an unusual amount of talent return to Tallahassee for the upcoming season.

The former Seminoles who weren't drafted are in the process of finding opportunities as undrafted free agents.

On Saturday, tight end Cam McDonald informed NoleGameday that he was inking a deal with the Green Bay Packers. McDonald was among three tight ends that the Packers acquired throughout the weekend as the team drafted Luke Musgrave in the second round and Tucker Kraft in the third round.

The California native has a chance to stick at the professional level due to his receiving skills and ability to play on special teams. McDonald understands that he'll have to make an impact on multiple facets of the game to increase his odds of making an NFL roster.

McDonald jumped onto the radar for clubs with his performance during the Tropical Bowl and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. He was looking forward to displaying his skills at Florida State's Pro Day but ended up pulling a hamstring during his 40-yard dash attempt.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end spent five years in Tallahassee after signing with the program under former head coach Willie Taggart in 2018. McDonald was a sparse contributor during his first two seasons with the Seminoles but saw his role expand after Mike Norvell was hired by Florida State. He appeared in 34 games, with 30 starts, over his final three years with the team, catching 68 passes for 818 yards with five touchdowns.

In total, McDonald compiled 74 catches for 861 yards and five touchdowns during his career in garnet and gold.

Green Bay is adding skill talent around quarterback Jordan Love as the fourth-year player prepares to take over as the starter for the Packers. Outside of adding three tight ends, the franchise also drafted three wide receivers (Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Grant DuBose) and a running back (Lew Nichols).
