Former FSU Football Offensive Tackle Selected In 2023 XFL Rookie Draft

The XFL completed its first season under the ownership of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and his partners last month. It doesn't appear that the league will be going away anytime soon after agreeing to an exclusive broadcast rights deal with ESPN through 2027.

Multiple former Florida State stars participated in the most recent rendition of the XFL including San Antonio running back Jacques Patrick, D.C. linebacker Reggie Northrup, Orlando linebacker Terrance Smith, and Orlando quarterback Deondre Francois.
That number could grow moving forward with the league continuing to grow in popularity and exposure. The XFL held a rookie draft on Friday that consisted of prospects who aren't currently under contract with an NFL team that were also eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft.
One former Seminole was selected over the course of the ten-round draft - offensive tackle Jazston Turnetine. The Seattle Sea Dragons drafted Turnetine along with one other offensive lineman to add to a roster that finished 7-3 and made the postseason. Seattle fell short to the championship runner-up D.C. Defenders.
Turnetine transferred to Florida State last summer for his final season of collegiate eligibility. He ended up playing an important role, appearing in all 13 games, with eight starts. Turnetine's role increased early in the season after starting right tackle Bless Harris went down for the year in week one.
The Georgia native played 651 snaps and graded out at 62.6 according to PFF. He suffered a leg injury during Florida State's victory against Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl that forced him to be carted off the field. Turnetine was acknowledged by every coach and player on the sideline prior to going to the locker room.
The injury limited Turnetine throughout the offseason. He participated in Florida State's Pro Day in March and earned tryouts with the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars after going undrafted.
Prior to his time with the Seminoles, he spent two years with the Gamecocks and appeared in 18 games, with 10 starts, all at left tackle. Turnetine began his college career at Hutchinson Community College, earning second-team All-America honors during his second year with the program.
