Former Florida State star and National Champion Jalen Ramsey suffered a knee injury on Thursday during the Miami Dolphins preseason training camp. It was an undisclosed injury, but the initial reports were that it was during an 11-on-11 drill before going down after after a collision with wide receiver Tyreek Hill. He stood up grasping his calf and lower leg and left the field under his own will but was eventually carted off to the Dolphins' lockeroom.

There has since been some clarity on the extent of the injury and it appears that the six-time Pro-Bowler injured his knee and will undergo surgery on a torn meniscus, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The report stated that he is "expected to miss at least six to eight weeks because of a meniscus injury that will require surgery, per source."

It is unclear how much of the season he will miss but the secondary will look different than what was expected when the Dolphins face the Los Angeles Chargers in September. Miami's secondary was shaping up to be a powerhouse as Ramsey paired well with All-Pro cornerback Xavien Howard.

The Miami Dolphins acquired the 28-year-old defensive back Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams this offseason in exchange for a third-round pick. Ramsey's three-year contract with the Dolphins is valued at $55 million with $35.5 million guaraunteed. Entering his eigth season in the NFL, his average annual salary is around $18.3 million according to Sportrac.com

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is expected to comment on the injury before Friday's practice.
