XFL Round-Up: Multiple former Seminoles debut in Week 1

A quick look around the league at former Seminoles in the XFL and their performances in the opening week of the season.

The XFL returned over the weekend as the league reboots under the guidance of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and other partners. This will be the third time that the league has tried to go mainstream, the last attempt under Vince McMahon failed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are eight teams in the league that are split into two four-team divisions - the XFL North and XFL South. Each franchise will play the teams in their division twice while also playing the four teams in the opposite division once to make up a total of ten regular season games.

Multiple former Seminoles made their debuts in the XFL in week 1, including San Antonio running back Jacques Patrick, Orlando linebacker Terrance Smith, and D.C. linebacker Reggie Northrup. This is actually Patrick's return to the league as he previously played with the Tampa Bay Vipers before a stint in the NFL.

Here's a complete look at the week and how former Florida State stars performed.

Arlington Renegades (1-0) vs. Vegas Vipers (0-1): Renegades 22, Vipers 20

No former Seminoles were involved in the contest.

Houston Roughnecks (1-0) vs. Orlando Guardians (0-1): Roughnecks 33, Guardians 12

Orlando Quarterback Deiondre Francois: Did not appear in the game, expected to play next week.

Orlando Linebacker Terrance Smith: Three total tackles in Orlando's loss, including two solo stops. Houston handled the Guardians with ease after forcing four turnovers and recording seven sacks.

Orlando Linebacker DeCalon Brooks: No stats recorded

Former FSU cornerback Tony Carter and former assistant Mark Snyder are members of Seminole legend Terrell Buckley's coaching staff in Orlando.

San Antonio Brahmas (0-1) vs. St. Louis Battlehawks (1-0): Battlehawks 18, Brahmas 15

San Antonio Running Back Jacques Patrick: Ten rushes, 38 yards, one catch, nine yards. Patrick was the expected starter entering training camp but lost his spot to Kallen Ballage, who had 24 carries in San Antonio's loss.

San Antonio Offensive Lineman Derrick Kelly: Inactive in Week 1

St. Louis Wide Receiver George Campbell: No stats recorded

D.C. Defenders (1-0) vs. Seattle Dragons (0-1): Defenders 22, Dragons 18

D.C. Linebacker Reggie Northrup: two total tackles in D.C.'s season-opening victory. The Defenders intercepted a pass deep in Seattle territory in the fourth quarter and turned it into the game-winning touchdown drive.
