Four-Star Forward Plans To Officially Visit Florida State In September

In this story:
Florida State is looking to make a resurgence on the hardwood after a 9-23 finish last season, the worst record for head coach Leonard Hamilton since he arrived in Tallahassee in 2003. It won't be easy, especially in the transfer portal era, but the first step is continuing to improve the talent level on the roster.

The Seminoles only signed one high school prospect in their 2023 recruiting class (Taylor Bowen) but are looking to bump that number up in the next cycle. One prospect that the program is closing in on is four-star guard AJ Swinton.
After picking up an offer from the Seminoles earlier in July, Swinton is already planning a trip to Tallahassee. On Thursday, he informed NoleGameday that he plans to officially visit Florida State beginning on September 1.
Swinton announced his commitment to Virginia Tech in February before backing off of that pledge two months later. Since re-opening his recruitment, he has visited Georgetown and West Virginia. It's important to note that at that point, current FSU assistant coach Kevin Nickleberry was still on staff with the Hoyas. He was hired by the Seminoles in April.
A native of Maryland, Swinton recently transferred from Sierra Canyon High School, where he played alongside Bronny James, to Bishop O'Connell High School.
The 6-foot-5, 180-pound forward is regarded as the No. 133 overall prospect, the No. 28 SF, and the No. 7 recruit in the state of Virginia in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
