Stefon Diggs Replacement for Buffalo Bills Could Be Found in Georgia's Ladd McConkey

The Buffalo Bills will need to replace Stefon Diggs after trading him to the Houston Texans. Georgia WR Ladd McConkey could be that replacement.

The NFL Draft kicks off live from Detroit, Michigan on April 25th with the first round, starting with the Chicago Bears with pick No. 1. With the NFL combine and all of the pro days in the rearview, there's still plenty of news and storylines impacting the decisions teams will make during the draft, like the latest Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans trade.

The Buffalo Bills have traded star wide-receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in exchange for a second round selection, giving the Buffalo Bills multiple chances to draft his replacement within the first 60 picks of an extremely loaded 2024 NFL Draft Class at the position.

Insert Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey. McConkey has blown up throughout the NFL Draft process. After a tremendous week of practice down in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, McConkey followed it up with a 4.39 at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. At 6'0, 189 pounds, McConkey not only fits the physcial mold of a player like Stefon Diggs — Diggs measured in at 6'0, 195 pounds at the NFL combine — but he's perhaps an more explosive option given the speed and testing data made available on McConkey.

Diggs established himself as one of the NFL's most prestigious pass catchers during his time in Buffalo, though the Bills have displayed action that they will need to go cheaper at the wide receiver position. Something that will lead them to drafted a wide receiver in the upcoming draft.

• Bill Draft Selections:
  Round 1: Pick 28
  Round 2: Pick 60.

McConkey's draft stock doesn't indicate a top-28 selection, so for the Bills to select him at No. 28 overall, making him a first round pick, would be classified as a reach. However, if they feel that McConkey is indeed their guy, they likely won't be able to wait around until pick No. 60 in the second round. According to the NFL Mockdraft Database, McConkey expected draft positioning is pick No. 36. So, it's not out of the realm of posibility for him to be selected at No. 28 based on a glaring need for the Buffalo Bills.
