While the status of Georgia WR Ladd McConkey remains up in the air entering Saturday's SEC Championship Game, he is on the mind of Alabama's defenders as they prepare to play the Bulldogs in Atlanta. In an appearance on "The Next Round Live" Alabama starting cornerback Terrion Arnold offered his thoughts on the Georgia receiver.

According to Arnold, while McConkey is not the most physically imposing receiver, looks can be deceiving when defending the Georgia wideout, much like they were for a former Alabama pass-catcher.

"He's one of those guys, almost, I feel like, when you look at him, he kind of reminds me of like a more athletic version of a Slade Bolden. He kind of resembles Julian Edelman. So when you go down there, you're like, pfft, 'Look at this guy, man. You finna do this to me?' When you go out there and you look at him, I feel like people can underestimate him on tape or things like that. But the guy is a ballplayer. Great routes. And I mean, shot player. Normally people aren't taking shots with 5-foot-9 white guys, but I mean, he's open. He's open. The dude is a gamer."

McConkey has dealt with an assortment of injuries this season including back injury that lingered through the first month of the season and, more recently, an ankle injury he suffered during Georgia's game against Ole Miss on Nov. 10. The Chatsworth, Georgia native suited up and played a handful of snaps against Tennessee the following week, but was unable to finish the game and subsequently sat out Georgia's 31-23 win over Georgia Tech a week ago. The Bulldogs are hopeful to get their star receiver back for Saturday's SEC Championship game, but according to Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart on Thursday, McConkey's status for the game remains up-in-the-air as Smart said "I'm still trying to figure that out myself" when asked about the availability of McConkey, tight end Brock Bowers, and guard Tate Ratledge; all of whom sat out last week's game against Georgia Tech.

The SEC Championship Game between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide is set to kickoff inside Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta at 4:00 PM ET on Saturday.
