Alabama's Alarming Statistical Trend For SEC Championship

Over the past few seasons, the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide have faced off in some of the biggest stages in college football. Saturday's matchup will be no different, as both teams will be playing for the SEC Championship and a possibility of a spot in the college football playoff.

For the most part, Alabama has been in control of this rivalry over the past few seasons, winning four of the last five matchups. However, the Dawgs are the team to boast the most recent victory as they defeated the Tide 33-18 during the 2022 national championship in Indianapolis.

But there is one statistic that seemingly gives Alabama an advantage. The Bulldogs have yet to defeat the Crimson Tide in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. In fact, no one has. According to ESPN Stats and Info, Alabama has won all seven of its matchups in the venue. Including its most recent preformance, a routing of the Georgia Bulldogs during the 2021 SEC Championship game.

Arguably even more impressive, the Tide have won an incredible 15 straight games in the city of Atlanta. A streak that dates back all the way to the 2009 SEC Championship Game, when the contest was previously held in the Georgia Dome.

While losing in Atlanta certainly seems to be a foreign concept to the Crimson Tide, the Bulldogs are more than capable of defeating Alabama and winning the SEC Championship. Despite statistical trends not being on their side.
