Bulldogs End Regular Season With Loss 61-55

The Georgia Bulldogs once again fell victim to a poor second half as they were defeated by the South Carolina Gamecocks by a score of 61-55. The loss was the team's fifth straight to close the season.

Both teams were unable to build a lead in the first 10 minutes of the game as neither squad was able to build a substantial lead. That was until around the seven-minute mark when the Bulldogs began to create some good shots and make some stops on defense. However, another sloppy end to the first half by Georgia allowed for the Gamecocks to close the gap at the end of the first. The Dawgs led 27-25 as they headed into the locker room.

The Bulldogs maintained their small lead until about the nine-minute mark of the second half when a South Carolina dunk gave the Gamecocks a 43-41 lead. Carolina maintained its lead until the two-minute mark when a three-pointer by Justin Holt gave the Bulldogs a one-point lead. However, the Dawgs were unable to finish and a careless technical foul doomed the team's chances of winning.

Terry Roberts was back to his old self as he reached the double-digit mark in points for the first time since Feb. 18th. He finished the afternoon as Georgia's leading scorer with 14 points and five rebounds. His production will be much needed as the Dawgs' next game will be in SEC tournament play.

The Gamecocks were led by the trio of Jacobi Wright, Meechie Johnson, and Hayden Brown. Together, the three combined for 45 of South Carolina's 61 total points and eight of their nine total assists.

The Bulldogs finished their regular season with a 16-15 record and have earned themselves as the 11th seed in the SEC tournament. Tournament play for the Bulldogs is set to begin March 8th in Nashville, Tennessee against the LSU Tigers.
