FIRST LOOK: Stetson Bennett in a Rams Uniform
After leading Georgia to back-to-back college football national championships, Stetson Bennett has firmly cemented himself as a legendary figure in the storied history of Georgia football. After Bennett fulfilled all of the wildest dreams of the Bulldog faithful, legions of Georgia fans around the country have immortalized the “Mailman” in shrines in their homes; shrines that feature him clad in Georgia’s traditional red and black. Diehard Georgia fans will always view Bennett as the quarterback who persevered against all odds to finally end Georgia’s impossibly long national title drought and will have an exceedingly difficult time ever identifying him as anything other than a Georgia Bulldog.
However, after Bennett was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the No.128 overall pick in April’s NFL draft, Bulldog fans are going to have to adjust to seeing Bennett in another team’s colors; the blue and gold of the Rams. Over the weekend, the Rams released a first look at Bennett wearing his familiar No.13 in their home uniforms that feature blue tops and gold pants.
While at first glance, the sight of Bennett in a Rams uniform might deliver a shock to the system of the most passionate Georgia fans, if the unparalleled success he was able to find at Georgia in the face of persistent doubts about his ability is any indication of the path his Rams career will take, they will have no choice but to get used to seeing Bennett in the colors of his new team.
