Georgia Bulldogs Miss Out on White House Invitation for Second Straight Year

For the second year in a row, the Georgia Bulldogs have won the national championship. But they will be missing out on a major honor as well.

Winning a National championship is the ultimate indicator of a successful season in college football. Numerous teams and fanbases dream of hoisting the College Football Playoff trophy and enjoying the festivities that follow. Festivities such as parades, ring ceremonies, hanging of banners along with numerous other ways to celebrate.

For the past two seasons now, the Georgia Bulldogs have had the luxury of taking part in these celebrations as they are the first team to win back-to-back titles in the era of the College Football Playoff. But while the celebrations in Athens have certainly been hefty, the Bulldogs will be missing out on perhaps the most exciting of celebrations. A visit to the White House.

It is an unspoken tradition in America, that major sports teams who win their respective championships receive an invite to the White House to be recognized for their accomplishments. However for the second straight year now. The Bulldogs have missed out on an invitation.

The Bulldogs abscence from Washington D.C. was not because of a lack of effort either. A group of Georgia representatives such as Earl LeRoy "Buddy" Carter as well as Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock signed a request to have the back-to-back National Champions hosted in White House. Unfortunately after their first title in decades, Kirby Smart and company were not able to attend due to the global pandemic.

At the beginning of the official letter, the representatives mention the achievements of the 2022 team.

"The Georgia Bulldogs, led by Head Coach Kirby Smart, completed a historic season in which they accomplished a 15-0 record and won their second National Championship in the same number of years. The 2022-2023 team allowed an average of 14.2 points per game while scoring an incredible 41 points per game."

While Georgia fans are certainly upset in the lack of invite, members of the football team were saddened by the news as well. Bulldog's defensive lineman Warren Brinson took to Twitter to display his disappointment.

While not be invited to the White House for the second year in a row could certainly put a damper on what has been an incredible run for the Georgia. The current state of the Bulldogs' program means it will likely not be the last time they have an opportunity to do so...
