NFL Draft Profile: Will Kelee Ringo be a First-Rounder?

Will former Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo become a first rounder in the 2023 NFL draft?

Combine invites have been delivered, senior bowls have been played, and now the anticipation for the NFL draft continues to build. The University of Georgia over the past couple of years has made a name for itself when it comes to developing some of the nation's most pristine talent, and the 2023 class will be no different.

A total of twelve Bulldogs received invites to the NFL combine event, and several of them are expected to put on quite the show this year. One former Bulldog that has already been giving a tease as to just how good he will perform at the combine is cornerback Kelee Ringo.

Coming out of high school, Ringo was rated as a five-star prospect, the fourth-best prospect in the nation and the best cornerback in the 2020 class. The Scottsdale, Arizona native would commit to the University of Georgia and then of course play the next three years of his career in Athens.

Ringo would go on to redshirt his freshman year as he spent the majority of the season recovering from an off-season injury. When his sophomore season rolled around, Ringo won the battle at his position and became a starter alongside Derrion Kendrick, who had transferred in from Clemson that year. He would play in all 15 games that season, was named to the All-SEC freshman team and delivered one of the most iconic moments in Georgia sports history.

After Georgia had just battled their way back to take the lead late in the 2022 national championship game against Alabama, the Bulldogs' historic defense needed just one more stop to seal the deal. On third down, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young launched the ball down the left side of the field only to then be intercepted by Ringo. Only Ringo didn't just run out of bounds like most players are taught to in that situation. Instead, he took it all the way back for a pick-six and created the most poetic game-winning play to end a program's 41-year national title drought.

In his third year as a Bulldog, Ringo made the second All-SEC team and helped delivered a second national title as Georgia's lead cornerback. Now his eyes are set on the next chapter of his playing career and has begun his preparation for the NFL draft.

Recently, it was shown on social media that Ringo has been training with former NFL star Richard Sherman. Certainly not a bad idea. It was also reported that Ringo topped out at 23.5 MPH while training with Tracy Ford (CEO of Ford Sports Performance).

Right now, it looks like many draft analysts are projecting Ringo to be a late first-round or early second-day draft pick. However, knowing how well he will test at the combine, he very well could solidify himself as a first-round lock before draft day rolls around.
