Georgia Expected to Play at Alabama in 2024

The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to play at Alabama during the 2024 season.

Throughout this offseason, a major talking point has been what the schedules are going to look like for SEC teams during the 2024 year, with the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns joining the conference after this season. More news has now come out that Georgia is expected to play at Alabama in the 2024 season, according to Bama's website at ON3.

This news comes just after it was announced that the Bulldogs are expected to play at Texas next season as well. That means head coach Kirby Smart and his team will now play Clemson, Alabama, and Texas in 2024. The game against Clemson will be played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. What is looking to be a relatively easy schedule for Georgia in 2023 will definitely not be the case in 2024 based on the opponents that currently have lined up for the following year.

This will be the second time that Georgia will have played at Alabama with Smart as head coach. The Bulldogs played in Tuscaloosa during the 2020 season as the Crimson Tide routed Georgia to a big-time win during the regular season. The two teams have played a total of five times since 2018, with Alabama winning four of those matchups, but the Bulldogs earned the victory against the Tide in the 2021 National Championship game.

The rest of the SEC schedules are expected to be announced later this evening, but Georgia is looking to have a loaded-down schedule during the 2024 season. With that, it is also worth noting that the expanded college football playoff is supposed to start next season, so having a tougher schedule can really only help a team like Georgia to earn a spot in the 12-team format.

With two big road games already marked down on the schedule, it will be interesting to see who the Bulldogs draw for their home games as they also already know that they will have their annual rivalry game against Florida at a neutral site in Jacksonville, Florida.
