Three Offensive Players to Watch for G Day

Three players on offense to watch for Georgia during their spring game scrimmage on Saturday.

We will be getting our first-ever look at Georgia's roster on Saturday during the program's spring scrimmage. The Bulldogs will be featuring some new faces on both sides of the ball, and fans will get their first look at the incoming freshman and transfers that were brought in from the 2023 class. So who are some players to pay attention to on offense for Saturday's game? 

Dillon Bell, WR

Bell is entering his second year with the program and had a pretty decent freshman campaign in 2022. In an interview with the Atlanta sports radio station "92.9 The Game", head coach Kirby Smart gave Bell a shoutout for the way he has performed and competed so far this spring. Last season, Bell racked up 20 receptions for 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the Bulldogs. 

During last year's spring game, Georgia was very pass-heavy and gave their quarterbacks a lot of reps in the passing game, and with a quarterback battle on their hands this year, the same should be expected. That also means that wide receivers will be given plenty of opportunity on Saturday to shine and it sounds like Bell has taken a big step forward this offseason and could come away with a big day this weekend. 

The Quarterbacks

This doesn't just pertain to the battle for the starting which looks to be narrowing down to Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff, but all three quarterbacks including Gunner Stockton are names to watch this weekend. The burning question is which of the three will outperform the others, but there is a lot more than just that to pay attention to. 

With the expectation for the offense to be pass-heavy, it means that the public will get a look at where each quarterback is at in their development. It's also a great opportunity to see all three quarterbacks operate in a high-intensity environment while trying to play their best, and that's the kind of scenario you want your quarterbacks playing in. Who steps up in the high-pressure moments on Saturday? That's what fans should be watching for. 

Oscar Delp, TE

Delp actually led the team in both receiving yards and targets during last year's spring scrimmage, and he could be in store for yet another big spring game. While his playing time was limited during his freshman season due to Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington being in front of him, his usage will be expanded in 2023, and Delp has shown a willingness to do just that. 

Georgia lost a valuable offensive threat as both a blocker and a pass catcher in Darnell Washington, and Delp has put in the work to take on the role of being a tight end who can put his hand in the dirt and do the dirty work. So something to watch this weekend is to see just how much Delp has grown so far this offseason and how exactly offensive coordinator Mike Bobo plans to utilize both him and Bowers in the offense.
