Who's Got the Most To Prove This Spring for Georgia?

Georgia is set to kick off their spring practice portion of the offseason. A month of practice gives plenty of opportunity to those who need to make a big impression this spring.

Spring practice is 15 practices spanning one month of the spring calendar, culminating in one intrasquad scrimmage that provides both a brief glimpse into the future that is the fall of football, as well as a look at what your favorite team might look like come time for that first kickoff.

The University of Georgia is fresh off a (13-1) season and looks to reclaim its national title in the sport's first iteration of a 12-team playoff in 2024. If Georgia will do so, here are some names that need a massive spring practice.

Most to Prove this Spring for Georgia

Josh Crawford - Running Backs Coach

Donte Williams has plenty of help in the DB room, Travaris Robinson has an extended history with several members on this staff, and James Coley is returning to work for Kirby Smart. Josh Crawford, however, is not only new to this staff, he's new to coaching the position of running back. The man tabbed to replace Dell McGee, Crawford not only has large shoes to fill, but he will be doing so with a group at running back that's got plenty of questions itself. Trevor Ettiene comes to the room by way of Florida and though an experienced SEC back, will be learning a new system this spring. Branson Robinson isn't expected to participate this spring, which leaves Crawford with a rather young and inexperienced group. It'll be a good warming up for this fall for Crawford to say the least.

Daylen Everrette - Cornerback

Everyone wanted to look past No. 6 last year. Georgia fans seemed to lament Everrette at times during the 2023 season, after all he was sought after by opposing offenses in part due to his inexperience but also because he was opposite Kamari Lassiter last season. With Lassiter expected to be drafted in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, it's now Everrette who will be tabbed as the "known commodity" by this coaching staff this spring. Or at least you would assume so.

Either way, Everette has to hold off some extremely talented teammates this spring and fall. Julian Humphrey and Daniel Harris most notably, however, Ellis Robinson is just a freshman but was the No. 1 rated position player in America in the 2024 signing class.

Jared Wilson - Center

Jared Wilson will likely have to play rather terribly this spring to "lose" his job at the center position. To put it quite frankly, Wilson is just next in line at the center position with Sedrick Van Pran off to the NFL. Drew Bobo is an adequate answer if needed, but Wilson has been tabbed as the future at the position for quite some time now. The former North Carolina tackle turned interior offensive lineman has tremendous upside, but this spring is about proving he can lead a line filled with experience. He will be alongside dozens of games played in the likes of Tate Ratledge, Xavier Truss, Earnest Greene, Dylan Fairchild, and Micah Morris. Wilson needs to prove he can play this spring, so he can earn the right to command in the fall.
