Georgia's Future At QB Ranked Among Nation's Best

The Georgia Football quarterback room's future ranks among the nation's best programs according to the latest article from ESPN.

The Georgia Football quarterback room's future ranks among the nation's best programs according to the latest article from ESPN.

The Georgia quarterback room will always be a pressurized situation as long as national title expectations are at stake. And since year two of the Kirby Smart regime in Athens, Georgia, national title expectations have been a constant.

So, to live up to the hype, it's a room that needs to not only have talent for now, but security for the future as well. Currently, Carson Beck is a redshirt senior starting quarterback, with redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton behind him, and freshman Ryan Puglisi occupying the third and final scholarship spot. They are currently below the scholarship threshold at Georgia according to Kirby Smart who prefers to have at least four scholarship players at the position.

ESPN.com recently released their QB rankings for the future, sizing up the next three years of quarterback play for the nation's top programs.

Top-5 QB rooms for the next three years according to ESPN:

  1. Ohio State
  2. Texas
  3. Oregon
  4. Georgia
  5. USC

"Georgia's post-2024 outlook changed dramatically as Brock Vandagriff transferred to Kentucky and Dylan Raiola, ESPN's No. 11 overall recruit in 2024, flipped to sign with Nebraska. The Bulldogs still have a year to develop Gunner Stockton, ESPN's No. 110 recruit in 2022, who worked as Beck's backup during Orange Bowl preparation and had two touchdown passes against Florida State in Georgia's 63-3 romp. If Stockton doesn't make the necessary jump, Georgia would be an attractive portal destination for an experienced quarterback. After not taking a quarterback in the 2023 class, Georgia signed Ryan Puglisi, ESPN's No. 109 overall recruit for 2024"
