Kirby Smart Responds to Claims About Culture Issues

Since the confetti fell in early January of 2023, things for Kirby Smart's football program have been less than desirable. After a handful of alcohol-related and reckless driving events, outsiders of the program have expressed their concern with the quality of the culture that is currently within the program.
Smart responded to these outside claims in an interview with ESPN by insisting that the team's culture was in the right place.
"When you talk to people outside our program that come into it, they talk about what a great culture we do have -- and we do an incredible job. Because I've got a lot of outside entities that come into our program and pour into these young men."

Smart also stated that the mission of his program was to help his players grow not just on the field, but in life. He also mentioned that he has spoken with his players about the dangers of speeding and reckless driving since the tragedy that took place on January 15th.
"Do we have perfect young men and women and players? Not necessarily. But I promise you this, that's the intent: for us to grow these guys and get them better. And I feel really good about the culture within our program."
-Kirby Smart
His interview with ESPN was one of his first media appearances since the team's national championship parade in early January.
