Scott Stricklin Previews Georgia vs Jacksonville State

Georgia baseball will begin its season this Friday at Foley Field with a three game series against Jacksonville State. Head coach Scott Stricklin sat down with Dawgs Daily to preview the series, beginning with who will start this weekend against the Gamecocks.
“Jaden Woods will go on Friday, Liam Sullivan Saturday, and we’re going to start freshman Blake Gillispie on Sunday.” said Stricklin.
Woods is a big-time talent, with a powerful arm that his coaches are excited about, but his biggest improvements have reportedly come in his off-speed pitches. He’ll need them against a stout Jacksonville State group.
“They’re very good, and they’re going to come in with a chip on their shoulder. They got a legit Friday night starter, and their Saturday guy has a big-time arm too. We’re going to have to be ready to play. We’re going to have to be ready to win this series. We expect Jacksonville State to be a really tough opponent.”
“Their run producer, [Carson] Crowe, had 12 home runs last year, and TJ Reeves played two years in the SEC. They’ve got a couple of guys; [Mason] Maners is a table setter, he can get on and he can run a little bit. It’s a good lineup. They’ve got four or five guys in that lineup from last year that are back, and some transfers that have come in. I think they’re going to play a freshman at shortstop.” said Stricklin.
“It’s a talented group, and we’re going to have to play really well to win.”
