What is Georgia Getting in Benjamin Yurosek?

Stanford tight end Benjamin Yurosek has announced he will be transferring to the University of Georgia, so what are the Bulldogs getting in him?

This offseason, Georgia has been ultra-active in the transfer portal, as they have brought in six players so far, and more are being added to the list. Former Stanford tight end Benjamin Yurosek announced that he will be transferring to Georgia, so now the question begs, what are the Bulldogs getting in him?

Well, one of the biggest things Yurosek brings to Athens is in-game experience. Georgia doesn't lack talent in their tight end room, even with Brock Bowers heading off to the NFL, but they do lack experience heading into 2024. Rising junior Oscar Delp got an extended amount of run last season alongside Bowers, and helped fill the void during his injury, and the rest of the snaps were distributed between Lawson Luckie and Pearce Spurlin.

Yurosek has spent the last four seasons at Stanford and has gotten meaningful playing time during the last three. His best year came when he was a sophomore, as he reeled in 43 receptions for 658 yards and three touchdowns. His career numbers currently sit at 108 receptions, 1,342 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He missed half of the 2023 college football season due to injury. He also carries around a massive frame as he looks to be six-foot-four and around 230 pounds based on his player profile.

Tight end seems like one of the last positions Georgia would need to add to given how well Todd Hartley and the staff have recruited that position, but the addition of Yurosek helps add contributing depth to the roster. It's known that Georgia has some very talented players at tight end already and even added to that number this year via the 2024 recruiting class. But with an extended season and tough conference schedule ahead of them this season, depth is going to play a major role for everyone.
