Four-Star Point Guard Daquan Davis Is Down To Two Schools: Georgia Tech and Florida State

Georgia Tech is a finalist for a top prospect

Georgia Tech is coming off a huge 70-69 win on the road against Wake Forest last night and got some more good news this afternoon.

Four-star 2024 point guard Daquan Davis announced today he is down to his final two schools: Florida State and Georgia Tech and he will make an official decision on March 24th. If Georgia Tech can land his recruitment, it will be the second player from OTE to commit to the Yellow Jackets (Four-Star Guard Jaeden Mustaf) and the second from RWE.

Davis was initially committed to Providence before reopening his recruitment in late October. Georgia Tech pounced on the opportunity and offered Davis in late December and has left quite an impression on him.

According to 247 Sports, Davis is ranked as the No. 77 nationally, the No. 7 point and No. 9 player in Georgia. Davis is one of the best players in the country. In the 2022-2023 season, he was named MaxPreps District of Columbia High School Basketball Player of the Year. He led the Cadets to a 30-3 record, a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference tournament title, and a national top 10 ranking. Davis averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals during that time.

He has been playing in Overtime Elite this season and has been playing at an elite level. Davis is averaging 17.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. In the final four games of the regular season, he scored 20+ points in three of the games.

Davis is playing his best basketball at the right time. He was stellar in a close-out game against one of the best teams in the OTE league, the YNG Dreamers. Davis dropped his first triple-double of the season finishing with 24 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds on an efficient 56% from the field. He has scored in every game this postseason.

The best attribute about his game is that he can score at a high level, and only needs a little bit of space to get his shot off and dominate. Davis is also shooting the three-ball at an efficient 46% in the playoffs. His playmaking is also something to behold. Davis can distribute with some of the best in the country. His assist-to-turnover ratio during the postseason has been stellar. He is averaging 6.4 assists per turnover in the playoffs and has recorded 8+ assists in three of the four games played.

Davis will be playing in the OTE Finals this weekend against the City Reapers and will be a must-watch player throughout the championship. Head Coach Damon Stoudamire is doing a great job with the Yellow Jackets in year one and is recruiting at a high level in the 2024 class. On Wednesday, he got one step closer to landing his future point guard.
