Kaleb Lanier has become a hot name on the recruiting trail in the early point of the offseason and continues to ball out on big stages. He has picked up over 10+ offers in the month of January alone and remains grounded and humble throughout the process. His technique and exceptional ball skills separate him from the pack and make him a can’t-miss prospect.

“I do feel like I have great ball skills. I do play receiver also so that helps. At DB when the ball is in the air I feel like I am a receiver. It is my right to go get the ball and attack it at its highest I feel a skill I am really good at. I feel like I can play the ball really well.

“Honestly, when they called my name for MVP it was special. I am blessed the opportunity. A lot of great players here and I some of them. They are outstanding players. To be named some of them is a blessing.”

Here is what he had to say about his recruitment contacting him the most.

“Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Duke, Ole Miss. I just received an offer from LSU. I haven’t been there yet but I would like to get down there. I also picked up Louisville. I have had a lot of offers come in,” said Lanier. “I want to get down there since it has been so recent. I am still weighing my options and I am interested in everybody that is interested in me.”

Right now he really likes Kentucky and Georgia Tech. These were his thoughts on both.

“I like the relationship I have built with Coach Chris Collins. I went up there and you see the development. They are going to lead you in the right direction and get you right. They showed us a slideshow,” said Lanier. “Josh Allen only had two offers coming out of high school and you see what he turned out to be, a first-round pick. He led the SEC in sacks. and life after football. They take that very seriously. That is time.”

“Georgia Tech is close to home. I’ve been there a lot of times. I think Coach Key is turning the program in the right direction. All the players seem dedicated. During the panel, they talked very highly of the program. Just how bought in the players are speaks volumes,” said Lanier.

“The relationship has been good. I got a chance to meet him during junior day and chop it up with him a little bit. We haven’t talked as much but I am still going to try and develop that relationship. I would say it’s a top school.”

He also talked about different parts of his game that he wants to continue to fine-tune and work on. A thing you admire about him is that he feels like he wants to continue to get better and be a source of inspiration to his teammates.

“I want to be more patient with my backpedal when I am in off coverage. I feel like I can trust my speed a little bit more. Give myself more cushion to drive and break because I trust my breaks and quickness. I want to work on my man press and stand square a little bit longer. All the little things that will get me that much better. I still have work to do,” said Lanier.

“I want to become more of a vocal leader, but still remain myself. I don’t talk that much to pump my teammates up a little bit. I want to get 10 interceptions next year and make a run in the state playoffs. We lost in the first round last but I want to third round or longer and make up for it. We have a new region with Woodward coming in. We are going to be going against great talent. I myself to be the best each and every week.”

Lanier is coming off a stellar season for the Decatur Bulldogs and his upside is massive. He currently holds Georgia Tech in high regard and as one of his top schools. It will be imperative that the Yellow Jackets continue to build a relationship with him. More top D1 programs will be calling for his services and the Yellow Jackets currently have the upper hand.
