2023 Heisman Odds: Three ACC Quarterbacks amongst the favorites to win it

Can an ACC player take home the Heisman Trophy this season?

College Football is one-third of the way through its season, but things are just starting to heat up.

From a national title perspective, this feels like the most open season in recent memory. Georgia, Michigan, Texas, Florida State, Ohio State, USC, and Washington have all looked great this season and could have a claim to be the best team in the country.

The ACC boasts six undefeated teams in the country (most of any conference) and while Florida State is the clear front-runner right now, there are challengers.

But what about the Heisman Trophy?

The ACC has not had a player win the Heisman Trophy since Lamar Jackson won it in 2016 at Louisville and before him it was Jameis Winston at Florida State in 2013. The ACC has more undefeated teams than any other conference, but there are only a couple of Heisman Trophy contenders according to Caesars SportsBook.

Florida State is the favorite in the conference and they also have the ACC player that has the best odds to win the Heisman. Quarterback Jordan Travis is off to a good start this season and is currently +1100 to win the Heisman, behind Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr (+225), USC quarterback Caleb Williams (+375), and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers (+650).

Just a little further down the board at No. 8 in the odds is Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke (+2200). Van Dyke has had a resurgent season in 2023 under new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.

The only other threat in the ACC is North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye (+2800). North Carolina is 4-0 and hoping to make another ACC Championship game appearance. Maye has not had the best season statistically, but he is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country and a future top-five pick in the NFL Draft.

Here is the current top ten in Heisman Trophy Odds:

1. Washington QB Michael Penix Jr- +225

2. USC QB Caleb Williams- +375

3. Texas QB Quinn Ewers- +650

4. Florida State QB Jordan Travis- +1100

5. Oregon QB Bo Nix (+1200)

6. LSU QB Jayden Daniels- +1600

7. Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman- +1800

8. Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke- +2200

9. Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy- +2500

10. Washington State QB Cam Ward- +2500

13. UNC QB Drake Maye- +2800
