Bowl Projections 2023: Where is Georgia Tech projected to play after its win over Miami?

Can Georgia Tech make their first bowl game since 2018?

After the loss to Bowling Green a couple of weeks ago, it seemed that the hope of making a bowl game for Georgia Tech was gone. It would take a series of upsets for the Yellow Jackets to get to six wins and considering how they played against Bowling Green, that seemed unlikely.

And then the Miami game happened.

Georgia Tech took advantage of some Miami blunders at the end of the game to score one of the most improbable victories in college football history. Now, the Yellow Jackets are 3-3, and a path to a bowl game can once again be seen as a possibility. Now, it is by no means a given, but there are enough winnable games (Boston College, Virginia, and Syracuse) to think the Yellow Jackets can make their first bowl game since 2018.

Bowl Projections are going to become more popular as the season goes on and after the win against Miami, Georgia Tech returned to them.

So where and who is Georgia Tech projected to play this postseason?

The Action Network has the Yellow Jackets heading to Annapolis, MD to play in the Military Bowl against the Memphis Tigers, who are 4-1 this season and have a big game against Tulane this week. The Military Bowl is set to take place on Wednesday, Dec. 27th at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN.

Georgia Tech has played Memphis three times and winning twice. The two programs played from 1980-1982, with the Yellow Jackets winning in 1980 and 1982.

ESPN's Mark Schlabach has Georgia Tech heading to Tampa, FL to play in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl against Army. The Black Knights are 2-3 and head coach Jeff Monken is a former Georgia Tech assistant. Georgia Tech and Army have played four times and the Yellow Jackets are 3-1 in the series. The last time the two teams met was 2007 in Atlanta, a game Georgia Tech won 34-10.

Obviously, we are only six weeks into the season and these bowl projections are largely meaningless for now, but it does say something in my opinion that Georgia Tech is projected to go to one after not being there in the preseason. A good step forward for this program would be getting to a bowl game this season.

Georgia Tech returns to the field next Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium against Boston College (12:00 p.m. ACC network).
