BREAKING: Georgia Tech Lands Four-Star Running Back Anthony Carrie On Signing Day

Carrie chose Georgia Tech over Texas A&M on Signing day

Georgia Tech just made some noise on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Four-star running Anthony Carrie just chose Georgia Tech over Texas A&M and Michigan State and becomes the fourth four-star player to join the Yellow Jackets 2024 class. Carrie visited Georgia Tech on December 8th and proceeded to visit A&M and Michigan State afterward. Running backs coach Norval McKenzie was able to close out this recruitment and pull out a huge win for Georgia Tech.

On the 247Sport Composite, Carrie is ranked as the No. 308 player in the country, the No. 22 running back in the country, and the No. 43 player in the state of Florida. Carrie (6'0 195 LBS) played at Carrollwood Day High School in Tampa, FL, and had other offers from NC State, North Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, LSU, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, UCF, and USC, among others. He joins three-star Trelain Maddox as the other running back in the 2024 class for Georgia Tech.

Here are some scouting notes and stats on Carrie, courtesy of 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins:

2023: In the regular season carried the ball 114 times for 855 yards and 10 TD. Also caught 7 passes for 58 yards and 2 TD. Helped Carrollwood Day post a 7-1 record and secure a No. 2 seed in the Sunshine State’s 1M playoffs.

"A compact running back with solid vision and quick feet that has spearheaded Carrollwood Day’s rushing attack the past few years. In 28 varsity games, has totaled just over 2,618 yards and 43 touchdowns on the ground while averaging 7.1 yards per carry. Size hasn’t been verified, but is believed to be under 6-foot and hovering around 185 pounds. Should tack on more mass at the next level as the body looks to still be maturing. Ability to scoot past would-be tacklers with his initial burst after evading them with swift side steps and explosive lateral cuts is by far his biggest strength at this stage in his development. Has valuable experience working as the deep back in a pro-style attack that featured a fullback every now and then. Far from a true battering ram, but isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder pads and bang for yardage. Overall, should be viewed as a well-rounded ball carrier with a natural feel for the position that will have a chance to make an impact on Saturdays. Could unlock things if he improves long speed (has an 11.43 in the 100-meter dash on file) and continues to fortify core."
