Does Georgia Tech have the best offense in the ACC?

In this story:
If I had asked anyone at the start of the season if Georgia Tech could have the best offense in the ACC, they would have thought I was crazy.
But it might be true.
It is hard to identify many teams that have the argument to be a more improved offense than Georgia Tech. This is a team that was one of the worst in the country in nearly any category last season whether it was scoring, passing, rushing, sacks allowed, etc. Brent Key hired Buster Faulkner away from Georgia, got some impactful additions and evaluations through the transfer portal, and recruiting, and they were off and running in the first game, scoring more than 30 points against Louisville.
With three games left to go, Georgia Tech is at or near the top of the ACC in most major statistical categories. The Yellow Jackets are 2nd in the ACC In yards per game (465.3), 4th in the ACC in passing yards per game (261.2), 4th in the ACC in rushing yards per game, and 3rd in the ACC in scoring offense. They are also 6th nationally in sacks allowed per game.
Quarterback Haynes King is currently playing like one of the top quarterbacks in the country. His rise since leaving Texas A&M has been something special to watch and King is 3rd in the ACC in passing yards and the leader in the conference in touchdowns. He has 545 yards rushing and seven touchdowns as well. He is living up to the potential that he showed as a high school recruit and he should find himself on an All-ACC team after the season.
There are only two quarterbacks in my opinion that have the argument to be better than King this season are North Carolina's Drake Maye and Florida State's Jordan Travis. With three games to go, Maye has a 500-yard lead for the ACC passing crown. He is going to be a top-five pick in next year's draft and a likely selection for first-team All-ACC.
Travis is the quarterback on the best team in the ACC and he is having a good senior season. Both Travis and King are dual-threats and provide that extra element to the offense. I think Maye and Travis are probably better than King, but the fact that he is in the discussion is incredible.
The running game has been phenomenal in the last two games. They have totaled 300+ yards in the last two weeks and Jamal Haynes is the fifth-leading rusher in the ACC. Haynes is another great evaluation by this coaching staff. A former wide receiver, Haynes was moved to running back and has provided versatility to the position as well as being explosive.
While Trey Cooley was the No. 2 back early in the season, Senior Dontae Smith has taken over that role in the last two games. Smith rushed for nearly 200 yards in the game against North Carolina and he followed that up with another good performance against Virginia. With this stable of running backs plus the ability of King to affect the game on the ground gives Georgia Tech arguably the most dynamic running attack in the ACC.
There are a number of playmakers at the wide receiver position. While I think FSU has the top set of receivers with Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson. North Carolina has a future NFL pick in Tez Walker, but Georgia Tech has some depth at the position. Eric Singleton Jr is one of the best freshmen in the country and is seventh in the ACC in receiving yards and is tied for second in touchdowns. Malik Rutherford, Christian Leary, and Dominick Blaylock make this a deep group.
The group that allows Georgia Tech to be as good as they are on offense is the offensive line. True freshman Ethan Mackenny and transfer Connor Scaglione have been solid, but the big jumps made by Weston Franklin and Joe Fusile on the interior can't go unnoticed. They are No. 6 in the nation in sacks allowed and have allowed the running game to explode in the past couple of weeks. Geep Wade has done a tremendous job with this group and they are one of the ACC's best.
So is Georgia Tech's offense the best in the ACC?
I think the only teams that have a claim to be the best offense in the ACC would be GT, North Carolina, Florida State, and Louisville. I would probably give the edge to Florida State just because of their variety of weapons that you can move anywhere, like tight end Jaheim Bell and I think Coleman and Wilson would be the top receivers on any of the teams. I think Georgia Tech has a better offensive line than UNC and has a deeper receiving corps beyond Walker, but North Carolina holds the edge at quarterback and running back.
Louisville can make the argument at running back with Jawhar Jordan and on the offensive line, but I think Georgia Tech has a deeper wide receiver corps and King is a better quarterback than Jack Plummer. Jamari Thrash is a great receiver, but the Cardinals lack a great No. 2 option.
I would probably rank those top four offenses as such:
1. Florida State
2. North Carolina
3. Georgia Tech
4. Louisville
There is a claim for each of them though and they are each difficult to stop. You will see plenty of players from each team on the All-ACC teams after the season.
