Georgia Tech Offers Middle Tennessee State Transfer Offensive Lineman Keylan Rutledge

Georgia Tech has made another offer to a Middle Tennessee State Transfer.

Keylan Rutledge, who played at Franklin County High School in Georgia, entered the transfer portal today and just a few hours later, announced on social media that he had been offered by the Yellow Jackets.

Rutledge was a starter at guard for the Blue Raiders and was on the CUSA Preseason Watch List and was a permanent team captain for MTSU. With starting right guard Connor Scaglione out of eligibility, Rutledge could come in and compete for the Yellow Jackets.

Rutledge is not the first MTSU transfer to be offered this week by Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets offered Middle Tennessee graduate transfer defensive end Zaylin Wood.

Wood played his high school football in the state of Georgia at Heard County High School and he has one year of eligibility remaining. He played four seasons for the Blue Raiders and totaled 10 sacks during his time there. He had 6.5 sacks in 2022 and three this season. He was a All Conference USA honorable mention in 2022.

His best performance in 2022 came in perhaps the biggest win in MTSU history. Wood collected two sacks, 2.0 TFLs, a fumble recovery, and an interception he returned 15 yards for a touchdown in the win at Miami.

It will be interesting to see how Key and his staff decide to attack the portal. There are going to be holes on this roster and there have yet to be any transfer portal entries for the Yellow Jackets at this point. This next month is going to be huge for this program. They will be preparing for the bowl game and getting those extra practices, but also looking to upgrade the roster.
