Georgia Tech Offers Purdue Grad Transfer Sulaiman Kpaka

Georgia Tech will look to upgrade the defensive line this offseason

The Transfer Portal has been a busy place and it is only going to get crazier in the coming days. Grad transfers are the only players that can officially enter the portal now, but others can declare their intention to do so.

Offers are starting to come in for different players of interest and schools are identifying players to fill needs on the roster this offseason.

One position that Georgia Tech is clearly targeting this offseason is the defensive line and they have offered another grad transfer defensive lineman. Purdue transfer Sulaiman Kpaka announced on social media that he had received an offer from Georgia Tech.

Kpaka totaled 10 tackles this season and 2.5 sacks for the Boilermakers. According to PFF, Kpaka played 163 snaps and he ended the year with a 56.7 grade, which is below average. He would add size on the defensive line at 6'2 295 LBS and he has plenty of experience so those are two ideal things that Kpaka would bring to Atlanta.

His other offers include Akron, Incarnate Word, and Ball State.

Kpaka is not the only defensive line transfer that has been offered by Georgia Tech this week.

The Yellow Jackets offered Middle Tennessee graduate transfer defensive end Zaylin Wood. Wood played his high school football in the state of Georgia at Heard County High School and he has one year of eligibility remaining. He played four seasons for the Blue Raiders and totaled 10 sacks during his time there. He had 6.5 sacks in 2022 and three this season. He was an All Conference USA honorable mention in 2022.

His best performance in 2022 came in perhaps the biggest win in MTSU history. Wood collected two sacks, 2.0 TFLs, a fumble recovery, and an interception he returned 15 yards for a touchdown in the win at Miami.

Another offer that Georgia Tech sent out this week was to another MTSU player, but not a defensive lineman.

Keylan Rutledge, who played at Franklin County High School in Georgia, entered the transfer portal yesterday and just a few hours later, announced on social media that he had been offered by the Yellow Jackets.

Rutledge was a starter at guard for the Blue Raiders, was on the CUSA Preseason Watch List, and was a permanent team captain for MTSU. With starting right guard Connor Scaglione out of eligibility, Rutledge could come in and compete for the Yellow Jackets.
