Georgia Tech vs No. 17 Miami: Live Updates

Kickoff is almost here for Georgia Tech and Miami!

After a dismal performance last week against Bowling Green, the Yellow Jackets are looking to bounce back and show they are an improved team this year under Brent Key and pull a big upset against Miami. It would not be the first time that Georgia Tech has pulled a big upset on the road under Key, as they were three-touchdown underdogs against Pitt and North Carolina last season.

Miami comes into this game off of their bye week and ranked No. 17 in the country. The Hurricanes have an impressive victory over Texas A&M this season but have been largely untested outside of that. The Yellow Jackets hope to test Miami tonight and put themselves in a position to pull a massive upset.

1st Quarter

Miami wins the toss and defers. Haynes King and the offense will take the field first

Georgia Tech begins their first drive at their own 25-yard line

King's first pass is incomplete and its 2nd and 10 GT

Haynes King took a big shot on that third-down pass. Three and out for the GT offense

Miami picks up its first first down of the game and is approaching midfield

Personal foul on Miami wide receiver Jacolby George pushes Miami back 15 yards

GT had Miami in a 3rd and five, but Tyler Van Dyke finds Xavier Restrepo for a first down. Restrepo has three catches already

Georgia Tech's defense gets off the field! Yellow Jackets take over at their own 45-yard line. 9:09 left to go in the first quarter.

Georgia Tech goes three and out and Key decides to punt it on fourth and short. It is a touchback and Miami will take over at their own 20-yard line with 7:07 left in the first quarter

Miami has picked up two quick first downs on their second drive

Georgia Tech's defense finds a way to get another stop. The Yellow Jackets will take over at their own 10-yard line with 3:53 left in the first quarter.

Third and short upcoming for Georgia Tech.

Another three and out for the offense. GT will punt it away. Miami takes over at their own 30-yard line with 1:23 left in the first quarter.

It will be 0-0 after the first quarter here in Miami. No first downs yet for the offense, but the defense has gotten off the field when they needed too. It will be second down for Miami when the second quarter begins.

2nd Quarter

Another crucial third down coming up for the defense

GT takes over inside their own ten yard line after a block in the back penalty. The offense is backed up here

Georgia Tech is in Miami territory for the first time tonight.

Georgia Tech had to spend their second timeout on a play. Only one left for the Yellow Jackets with eight minutes left in the first half

Terrible decision by Haynes King and Miami intercepts the pass. Hurricanes take over. That was the best drive of the half by far for the offense.

Van Dyke finds George for 25 yards and Miami is now deep in Georgia Tech territory

Interception! LaMiles Brooks picks off Van Dyke in the end zone. The defense has responded tonight. Great play by Brooks. Georgia Tech takes over at their own 25-yard line with 3:19 to go in the half. Miami gets the ball after halftime

Georgia Tech elects to run it on 4th and 10 and gets stopped. Miami calls a timeout and will get the ball back

The field goal is good and Miami leads Georgia Tech 3-0. Not perfect, but after last week, this is a win for GT. They have a chance to pull a big upset in the second half. Great job by the defense in the first half holding Miami without a touchdown.

3rd Quarter

Miami takes over at their own 24-yard line to start the second half.

GT called for a hold to start their first drive of the second half.

Blaylock drops the second down pass and its third and long for GT

Three and out for GT and they will punt it away. The offense has to do something soon. A double-digit lead might be insurmountable tonight

Miami takes over near midfield.

Restrepo picks up a Miami first down.

Touchdown Miami. True freshman tight end Riley Williams extends the lead to 10-0 for Miami. 6:37 left in the 3rd quarter. Big drive for the offense coming up.

Touchdown Georgia Tech! Haynes King runs it in and cuts the lead to 10-7 with 3:19 to go in the third quarter. Much needed drive from the offense and we got a tight game here in South Florida

Interception Ahmari Harvey! His first career interception sets GT up in Miami territory. Yellow Jackets have a chance to take the lead here in Miami

Jamal Haynes just had a tremendous effort and all of a sudden, Georgia Tech has just taken the lead on No. 17 Miami with 1:09 to go in the third quarter. What a turn of events since Miami went up 10-0

After three quarters, Georgia Tech leads No. 17 Miami 14-10 and the Yellow Jackets have a chance to pull a shocker down here one week after losing to Bowling Green. Miami is driving and will be in scoring position to start the fourth quarter.

4th Quarter

Jaylon King intercepts Tyler Van Dyke and sets Georgia Tech up in scoring position.

Birr nails the 27-yarder and Georgia Tech leads 17-10 with 12:11 left to go in the game. 17 unanswered points for GT. Would have been nice to get a TD there

Touchdown Miami, Colbie Young with a long touchdown catch. Tied game here in South Florida. Play is under review

Young is ruled down and it will be first and goal for Miami

Touchdown Miami, Henry Parrish scores and the game is tied

Interception James Williams and Miami takes over in Georgia Tech territory

Field goal for Miami is good. Hurricanes lead 20-17 with 6:23 left in the game
