R-Jay Barsh has been offered an assistant coaching position on the Gonzaga men's basketball staff, Gonzaga Nation SI has confirmed. Barsh is expected to serve a role similar to that of former Gonzaga assistant Roger Powell, who was hired as the Valparaiso head coach last week.

Prior to spending last season as an assistant to Leonard Hamilton at Florida State, Barsh was a part of Boise State's coaching staff for three seasons. He helped the Broncos reach the 2022 NCAA Tournament as they set program records for total wins (27), conference wins (15), and consecutive wins (14) on their way to winning the Mountain West regular-season title outright and capturing the Mountain West Tournament championship.

Barsh returns to Washington over a decade after leading Tacoma Community College to three Western Region titles in four seasons and an NWAACC championship in 2012. Barsh was also an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Puget Sound, from 2005-07.
