Gerad Parker's Troy team picked up a notable P5 defensive commitment from the transfer portal on Sunday.

Linebacker/defensive end Jah-Mal Williams announced his intention to play the 2024 season with the Trojans via his social media.

The defending Sun Belt champions are getting an edge player with two years of eligibility remaining. Williams redshirted in 2021, then did not appear in a game in 2022. In 2023, Williams appeared in four games, totaling six tackles.

The Florida native is one of a handful of defensive transfer portal pickups in the wake of Jon Sumrall's departure. The Trojans also received commitments from NC State corner Cecil Powell and ECU linebacker Ra Ra Dillworth this cycle. Troy also managed to retain edge rusher Zach Edwards, who withdrew from the portal last week.

Williams was part of the Cincinnati's 2021 class out of Fort Lauderdale's Cardinal Gibbons High School. He was a three-star recruit, at the time.
