BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Peyton Ramsey is always going to be ready to play for Indiana, and it never matters whether starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is healthy or not.
That was the case again on Saturday when Penix wasn't able to play in Lincoln against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. So Ramsey started for the third time this year, and he was sensational. He passed for 351 yards and two scores, and also rushed for 42 yards and another touchdown.
It was a huge win for the Hoosiers, their third straight in the Big Ten. They haven't done that since 1993. The victory also got them to six wins, making them bowl eligible before Halloween, which has only happened five times in school history.
For our weekly "Monday Film Room'' segment, let's take a look at Ramsey's big day, with a focus on his connections with wide receivers Whop Philyor and Ty Fryfogle, plus his tight ends Peyton Henderson at Matt Bjorson.
There's also interviews with Ramsey, Philyor and Fryfogle in this fun and entertaining 4-minute plus VIDEO. Please check it out.
Fryfogle had four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown, his biggest game of the season for yards.
Philyor had 14 catches for 178 yards, and that's the second time he's had 14 catches this season. He's had double-digit reception games three times in the past four games.
Indiana is now 6-2 on the season and 3-2 in the Big Ten, tied for third in the Big Ten East with Michigan. The Hoosiers return home on Saturday to play Northwestern. The game begins at 7 p.m.
