News & Views: I'm guessing Michael Penix's injury might be shoulder related

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — There's going be plenty of bar-side chatter about Michael Penix Jr. and his mysterious injury, but we got a little glimpse of what might be wrong with Indiana's redshirt freshman quarterback.
That's topic No. 1 in my weekly News & Views piece. It’s always meant to be fun as we talk about all things Hoosiers, football and basketball alike.
It’s also meant to be interactive, so please weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section and I’ll banter back and forth with you, too.
Here’s our three quick-hitters for the day:
Michael Penix Jr's 'undisclosed' injury
NEWS: Michael Penix Jr. is a game-time decision on Saturday with an undisclosed injury.
VIEWS: This video taken by WDRB-TV in Louisville during the second quarter of last Saturday's game with Eastern Illinois looks to show Penix in some pain after throwing a touchdown pass. He wasn't hit on the play, but he sure appears the be in pain.
Take a look at the video below to see it spelled out pretty well.
I've been around enough shoulder issues in my career to say that this looks like something might be wrong with his shoulder. I'm no doctor, and I've never played one on TV, but that's my impression from this video.
Here's to hoping it's minor and just needs some rest. It's too bad that he can't be 100 percent for this matchup with No. 6, though. I was really looking forward to him attacking this really good Ohio State team,
Some inside journalism for you
NEWS: My weekly budget says to write "4 things that need to happen for Indiana to upset Ohio State' on Friday.
VIEWS: Yep, I was going to write that today, because with a healthy Penix, I really thought that Indiana had a chance to shock the world. I've been looking forward to this game, and I was going to call for the upset.
But now, with Penix probably out for the game, I decided to back off on that prediction. The fourth and final part of my column was going to be how Penix was going to outplay Ohio State's young quarterback, Justin Fields. Now, we're probably not going to see that.
No disrespect intended toward Peyton Ramsey, who probably will get the start at quarterback, but Penix is something special. So I'll be a coward and back off on any bold predictions. No game prediction for me now with so much up in the air.
Ohio State the best of the bunch again?
NEWS: Ohio State has moved into the No. 1 slot in the Big Ten power rankings after starttng out at No. 2.
VIEWS: I had a feeling that the Buckeyes might struggle a bit under new coach Ryan Day, and part of that was because I remember what happened when Urban Meyer left Florida and the Gators lost six games the next year.
I didn't see that kind of demise from the Buckeyes, but I thought losing two or three games might be an option. I thought, at least in the preseason, that Michigan might be a better team.
I've changed my mind.
For now though, they do look like the best team in the Big Ten, and a lot of that is based on beating a pretty good Cincinnati team 42-0 last week. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person Saturday, and seeing for real if they really are that good.
