In this story:

Despite only playing half the year due to recovering from a major injury, McKenna Woliczko stole the show during the 2026 McDonald's All-American Game.

Woliczko was named a starter for this prestigious game as she represented the black and gold. While she's the Iowa Hawkeyes only commit in the Class of 2026, she absolutely has what it takes to be a day one starter.

Starting as a true freshman is no easy feat, but that's exactly the kind of pressure that comes with being a Top 10 player in the Class of '26.

Second year head coach Jan Jensen knows she'll be without key seniors and a few transfers, so Woliczko's performance in the All-American game certainly made things a lot better going into next season.

Woliczko Earns High Praise

On SI's Mitch Stephens wrote, "I’ve got McKenna Woliczko with an offensive rebound, assist, steal, basket and block - shes covered stat sheet - all in first 5 minutes. She doesn’t figure to get a bunch of shots."

Woliczko was a double-double machine in high school. Her team failed to win it all this year, but they came up just short in second place as she did everything in her power to make the most of a shortened senior season.

Even coming off a grueling ACL injury, Woliczko picked up right where she left off. There's a reason she had so many eyes on her in the first place and she proved exactly why infront of a national audience in this All-American game.

It should be noted the game's leading scorer, Saniyah Hall, was held to just 0-5 shooting when Woliczko guarded her. That's a huge feather in her cap as the Hawkeyes can't wait to see what she's capable of at the next level.

Iowa Can't Wait to Bring in Woliczko

The Hawkeyes will be without seniors Hannah Stuelke, Taylor McCabe, and Kyile Feuerbach in the 2026-27 season. Those three have been a huge part of the squad for quite some time so they're desperately looking for another four-year player to replicate the results that trio had.

Now that Callie Levin and Addie Deal announced they'd be transferring, that leaves an even bigger void to fill. All eyes will be on Woliczko as she has little to no time to adjust to the collegiate level. Jensen will likely slot her right into the starting lineup, and rightfully so as her and Ava Heiden could cement themselves as one of the best backcourts in the nation.
