Iowa Basketball coaches have been traveling the country this month, watching prospects running with their AAU squads. They've handed out scholarship offers.

One opportunity went to a prospect in an area that the Hawkeyes haven't recruited much during Fran McCaffery's 12 years guiding the program. Reston (VA) South Lakes guard Jordan Scott picked it up.

"I was told by my head coach (Mike Desmond) at South Lakes that Iowa offered me," Scott told HN. "Coach McCaffery watched me played that last weekend in South Carolina. They told my coach that I was a versatile player that could play multiple positions."

Scott (6-6, 175) has been shining for Virginia Elite on the UA Rise circuit. He has some familiarity with the Hawkeyes and assistant coach Sherman Dillard.

"They are taking not top 100 guys and making them NBA players. I met coach Dillard once, and he is very chill," Scott said.

Scott also reported scholarship offers from Washington, East Carolina, Radford and George Mason. He has visited Michigan State, Virginia, George Mason, Richmond and VCU.

"I'm looking to visit (Iowa) sometime over the summer. I would like to see more about their program, campus and facilities," he said.

Only a prep sophomore, Scott has time on his side. He can get to know colleges and coaches.

"The most important factor for choosing a school would be a comfortable environment for me to spend my next four years," he said.

Prep Hoops ranks ($) Scott as the No. 8 player in Virginia for the '25 Class.

Jordan Scott is the son of BTN and ESPN broadcaster Christy Winters-Scott.
