Bodey McCaslin has built a strong bond with Iowa Football. The Class of 2023 offensive lineman visited for a game in the Fall and returned to campus this spring.

Following the latest stop, the Hawkeyes offered McCaslin (6-5, 255) a scholarship. He added it to his others, which include Penn State, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Purdue.

With Iowa visits under his belt, the St. Charles (IL) East High standout has connected with the program.

"I was impressed by the coaching staff," he told HN. "I really like the people that are there."

McCaslin has become especially close to Hawkeye offensive line coach George Barnett.

"Coach Barnett really likes to make it known to me that I am one of his guys. He loves my family, how I was raised and how aggressive I am on the field," McCaslin said.

Rivals, 247Sports and On3 rank McCaslin as a three-star prospect. On3 views him as the No. 11 overall player in Illinois for '24 with 247 putting him 13th and Rivals tabbing him at 15.

McCaslin has been visiting campuses periodically since a November '21 stop at Kansas. Since then, he's been to Miami (OH), Iowa, Buffalo, Kent State, Cincinnati, Wyoming, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota State, Akron, Kansas State, Kansas and Nebraska (previous staff). Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, K-State, and Kansas have received multiple visits.

At this point, McCaslin is well traveled and well informed about what colleges and their football programs can offer him. He is aiming for more data with another Iowa visit in late April or early May.

"I want to get back to see more of the college life and what will be my day-to-day outside of football," he said.

McCaslin plans on studying Business in college. He sounds close to knowing where that might be.

"The only thing left in recruiting is to get back (to Iowa) and either tell them I’m going somewhere else or commit. I don’t know what will happen," he said.
