Iowa Football added a third member to its 2025 recruiting class Sunday night when Illinois linebacker Burke Gautcher announced his intentions on social media. He became the first commitment in the cycle from outside the state.

Gautcher (6-3, 200) also reported scholarship offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Kent State and Northern Illinois. He'd visited the Illini and Gophers in addition to a pair of stops in Iowa City.

Prep Redzone ranks Gautcher as the No. 21 player overall in Illinois for '25. 247Sports puts him 15th and Rivals at No. 18. On3 does not yet have him rated.

Gautcher hails from the same high school that sent linebacking brothers Ben and Nick Niemann to Iowa. Both of them went on to NFL careers after earning all-conference honors with the Hawkeyes.

"Burke is a great kid with a ton of upside," Sycamore coach Joe Ryan told HN. "He is a combination of Ben and Nick Niemann."
