Iowa Football picked up its first commitment coming off its big official visit weekend. Arizona defensive lineman Devan Kennedy announced his decision to become a Hawkeye Monday morning.

Kennedy (6-3.5-24) joined Iowa's Class of 2024 verbal commitments and some of its top targets in the cycle on campus. He became the group's 13th known verbal pledge.

Oregon State, Illinois and Penn State were among his other nine reported scholarship offers. Iowa represented his lone official visit.

247Sports was the only scouting service to rank Kennedy at the time of publishing this story. It saw the Phoenix (AZ) Brothy College Prep standout as a three-star prospect, the No. 118 edge rusher nationally in '24 and the 43rd best player overall in Arizona for the cycle.

According to Max Preps, Kennedy played in nine games as a junior in '22. He recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass, returning it 72 yards for a touchdown.

At the opening of his Hudl highlights, Kennedy states that it was his first season playing football. While raw, you can see the athleticism and explosiveness in the clips. He shows good discipline in setting the edge and then pushing the pocket.
