Timothy Lawson doesn't need to think long in coming up with what he likes about Iowa Football. The Hawkeyes boast a proud tradition of excellence at his position.

"The main thing that stands out is the tight end presence they've already shown," the Fort Myers (FL) Bishop Verot senior-to-be said.

Iowa offered Lawson (6-4.5, 220) a scholarship on May 25. He added it to a long list of suitors.

"I think I’d like to learn more about the (Hawkeye) staff and the overall campus," he said.

Lawson is a very good athlete. He's committed to Central Florida for baseball. Perfect Game grades him as an 8, which denotes draft pick and/or excellent college player in that sport.

Football programs have made him think, however. He's officially visited Purdue, where he also visited unofficially in the spring, and has officials scheduled to North Carolina (June 2-4) and Duke (June 16-18).

The Hawkeyes could get him on campus.

"I might try to visit Iowa at some point this summer," he said.

As a junior, Lawson caught 32 passes for 469 yards and a touchdown. That led to reported football scholarship offers from the above mentioned schools along with Pittsburgh, Louisville, Indiana, Rutgers, Princeton, Yale, Penn, Dartmouth, Mississippi State, Baylor, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati, Temple, TCU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Illinois.

The Hawkeyes see him as solid fit for their offense.

"I think the main thing Iowa likes is the fact that I have the ability to be a well-rounded tight end," he said.

Iowa also offers a top option in his major.

"I'm looking to study Business Management," he said.
