Five days into June, Michael Burt reports five scholarship offers coming his way already this month. The surge included his first Power 5 opportunity, which arrived from Iowa Football on Monday.

Miami (Ohio), FCS champion South Dakota State, South Dakota and Southeast Missouri State joined the Hawkeyes in offering the well-rounded athlete from Omaha (NE) Creighton Prep since the calendar flipped. Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Northern Iowa already were in.

Burt (6-5.5, 230) projects to play tight end in college. The Hawkeyes are well-known for success at the position.

"The thing I like the most about them is the developmental aspect of their program," Burt told HN.

Also a standout in baseball and basketball, Burt shows off that athleticism on the gridiron during his junior highlights. He explodes off of the snap, displaying excellent hands and solid blocking ability.

The next steps for Iowa are building a stronger bond with Burt and getting him on campus.

"I most likely will visit Iowa but I don't know when that will be," he said.

There's much more he wants to learn about the Hawkeyes and the school.

"I'd like to find out more about the everyday-student life," he said.

He plans on studying Business in college. He knows what he's looking for in selecting one.

"A family culture in the football program is important and also academics," he said.

According to Max Preps, Burt caught 11 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown during eight '22 games. He added three carries for 23 yards.

None of the major recruiting sites had a ranking for Burt at the time of publication.
