Kentucky guard finalist for Jerry West Award

Amid a dominant season, a Kentucky guard has been named a finalist for the Jerry West Award.

The Jerry West Award is presented to the best shooting guard in college basketball each season.

Kentucky has only had one player win the award, Malik Monk in 2017.

The Wildcats could add another name to that list this season, however, as Antonio Reeves has been named a finalist for the award.

The 6-foot-6 senior from Chicago is having a dominant season in his second year with the program.

Reeves is Kentucky's leading scorer with 20 points per game. He averages 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 50.9% from the field and 44.2% from 3-point range.

Other finalists for the award include Caleb Love from Arizona, Kevin McCullar Jr. from Kansas, Tyson Walker from Michigan State and RJ Davis from North Carolina.

Reeves' story is one of the most interesting in college basketball. Prior to his time in Lexington, Reeves played three seasons for the Illinois State Redbirds. He was not heavily recruited by major programs.

Kentucky fans can help Reeves by participating in the fan vote at hoopshall.com starting on Friday. The fan vote will be counted as one committee vote during the selection process.

Kentucky returns to action tomorrow when it hosts the Vanderbilt Commodores at Rupp Arena. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET and the television broadcast can be found on SEC Network.
