Gallery/Postgame: The Ville 91, War Ready 67

In this story:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fans of the Louisville men's basketball program were treated to a nostalgic evening on Tuesday night.
The Ville, a UofL alumni team that features some of the most noteworthy Cardinals from the late-2000's onwards, took to the floor to kick off their run in The Basketball Tournament. The crowd was not disappointed, as they easily dispatched War Ready, a team of Auburn alumni, to the tune of 91-67.
"These guys were fantastic," The Ville head coach Mark Lieberman said. "They embraced the coaching, they embraced the effort, all the teaching. They were locked in. ... Everybody was paying attention to details, we were meticulous with how we were guarding certain actions. The coaching staff did a great job. I'm pleasantly surprised. I mean, that was fantastic."
The 5,463 in attendance - the fourth-largest in TBT history - witnessed a vintage performance from Russ Smith. The former All-American poured in a game-high 21 points, including all eight points during the Elam Ending. From start to finish, the fans kept the energy flowing throughout Freedom Hall, helping fuel The Ville to victory.
"I do want to thank all of the fans for coming out. ... To perform in front of them is truly a blessing," Smith said. I've had my fair share of injuries, so I know how truly special this moment is. Sharing it, also with my former teammates who I've won with, and then my dad. I'm just taking everything one step at a time, and enjoying each game."
