LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Following a pair of wins to open up their first ever run in The Basketball Tournament, the Louisville's men's basketball alumni team fell just short in game No. 3.

In a showdown of the top two teams in the Louisville Regional, The Ville was unable to come through in the clutch, falling to the Gutter Cats 64-62 on Saturday at the legendary Freedom Hall.

"The most disappointing part of everything, is how much fun it was to be around this group," head coach Mark Lieberman said after the loss. "I wanted at least two more days and then after that, two more days after. That locker room was like an NCAA Tournament loss. Those guys were really devastated. They were such a great team. They're great players, but they were such a great team.

The Ville shot 36.5 percent from the field and went 3-for-18 on three-point attempts, while the Gutter Cats went 36.1 overall with 24 turnovers. Despite The Ville scoring six of the first seven points in the Elam Ending, the Gutter Cats stormed back, winning the game on a bank-shot three-pointer.

"We had some good looks," Lieberman said. "I mean, there was about three or four times Chinanu (Onuaku) or Chane (Behanan) could just tip the ball and it just came in and out. ...It's just the way the game goes. I've been part of both sides of it. Hats off to the Gutter Cats. Our team played amazing."
