Report: Louisville to Host '24 SF Jalen Shelley for Official Visit

The top-25 prospect was offered by the Cardinals last month.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The recruiting momentum for the Louisville men's basketball program continues to surge.

Frisco (Tex.) Prestonwood Christian small forward Jalen Shelley will taking an official visit to the Cardinals this weekend, according to On3's Joe Tipton.

Shelley first appeared on Louisville's radar earlier this calendar year, and was formally offered a scholarship back in February. He also holds offers from Alabama, Houston, Iowa, Kansas State, LSU, Tennessee, Texas and others.

The 6-foot-7, 175-pound guard/wing averaged 12.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign while with Frisco (Tex.) Lone Star. He opted to transfer to Prestonwood Christian ahead of his junior year, and had standout performances last offseason at both the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. and the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.

Shelley ranks as high as the No. 8 small forward in the class and the No. 22 prospect in the nation, according to On3's in-house rankings. He is considering a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, coming in at No. 54 overall by the metric.

Despite going 4-28 in head coach Kenny Payne's first year at the helm, he and his staff have been blazing hot on the recruiting trail since the end of their season. Last week alone, Louisville landed five-star 2023 center Dennis Evans, former Illinois guard Skyy Clark and five-star 2023 reclass wing Trentyn Flowers.

Louisville currently sports just one commitment in the 2024 cycle, coming from Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception point guard T.J. Robinson. Including Shelley, eight uncommitted prospects in the class currently hold a Louisville offer.
