Jordan Nwora Sets Pacers Regular Season Single-Quarter Scoring Record

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Jordan Nwora hasn't been with the Indiana Pacers for very long, but he's already made his mark on their record book.

The former Louisville men's basketball standout set the franchise's regular season record for most points in a quarter, scoring 25 points in the second quarter of Saturday's 143-130 loss at the Atlanta Hawks.

Nwora's second quarter tied the Pacers' all-time single-quarter scoring record, matching Reggie Miller's 25 points in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks. He finished the game with 33 points, one point shy of tying his career-high, shooting 12-of-17 from the field and 4-of-7 from long distance.

The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward was acquired by the Pacers from the Milwaukee Bucks at the trade deadline in early February, and he has made the most of his fresh start. Heading into Saturday's matchup, Nwora was averaging 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 16 games and four starts with the Pacers. During that stretch, he is also shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 43.5 percent on three-point attempts.

Prior to the deadline, he was averaging 6.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 38 games with the Bucks to start the 2022-23 season, while also shooting just 38.6 percent overall and 39.2 percent on threes.

The Buffalo, N.Y. native has been mostly a rotational piece during his first three years in the NBA, appearing in 146 games with 22 starts. For his career, Nwora is averaging 7.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game with a 42.1 field goal shooting percentage and 40.9 percent mark on threes.

Nwora is one of nine former Cardinals to have ever won an NBA Championship, doing so in 2021 as a rookie when the Bucks took down the Suns in six games. Milwaukee drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft with the 45th overall pick.

As a junior for Louisville during the 2019-20 season, he led the Cardinals in points per game with 18.0 and was second in rebounding with 7.7. He was the only player to be ranked in the ACC's top ten in points, rebounding, free throw percentage, field goal percentage and three-pointers made per game. He was named a First Team All-ACC selection and a Third Team All-American by the Associated Press.
