Watch: Louisville HC Kenny Payne Previews Virginia Tech

The Cardinals host the Hokies for a rematch in their penultimate game of the 2023-24 regular season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's basketball program is sputtering towards the finish line.

With just two games left in the 2023-24 regular season, the Cardinals are now on a five-game losing streak, losing by an average margin of 18.4 points during this span. While their most recent outing against Syracuse was competitive down the stretch, Louisville still suffered an 82-76 loss, clinching the No. 15 seed in the ACC Tournament for the second straight year.

Continuing a three-game home stand, Louisville's penultimate game of the regular season will have them hosting a rematch against a Virginia Tech squad that will be looking to pull off an in-season sweep of the Cards. In what was the ACC opener for both teams, the Hokies came out on top with a 75-68 win at the Cassell Coliseum.

"They're a very good team," head coach Kenny Payne said. They run their stuff well, they have a big guy in the middle that's pretty good, they got great shooting, and very crafty guards."

Prior to their matchup with the Hokies, Payne took time to meet with the media on the weekly ACC Coaches Conference Call. He discussed the previous game vs. Syracuse, previewed the upcoming matchup vs. Virginia Tech, and more.
