Louisville to Open ACC Tournament Against Boston College

The Cardinals will face the Eagles in the second round of the ACC Tournament.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After missing out on a double-bye in the ACC Tournament by the skin of their teeth, the Louisville women's basketball program now knows their first opponent in postseason play.

The fifth-seeded Cardinals (23-8, 12-6 ACC) will open up the 2024 ACC Tournament against 13th-seeded Boston College on Thursday, Mar. 7 at 11:00 a.m. EST in the Second Round, following the Eagles' 85-72 upset win over 12th-seeded Clemson on Wednesday.

Boston College (14-18, 5-13 ACC) used turnovers and three-pointers to fuel their win over Clemson. They forced 20 turnovers for 26 points, and went 7-of-20 from beyond the arc. Ruby Whitetown and Dayshan Harris both had 26 points, combining to go 19-of-32 from the field.

Louisville won both matchups against Boston College during the regular season, winning 88-60 at the KFC Yum! Center on Jan. 25 then squeaking out a 69-67 victory in Chestnut Hill on Feb. 15.

While Louisville certainly had their ups and downs over the course of the 2023-24 season, it was still a highly successful campaign overall. They were able to clinch their 14th consecutive 20-win season, and 16th overall in 17 seasons under head coach Jeff Walz. Guard Kiki Jefferson and forward Olivia Cochran were also both named Second-Team All-ACC

Louisville is 14-8 all-time in the ACC Tournament and 8-1 in the ACC Quarterfinals. The Cardinals enter the postseason with a 25-15 record in conference tournaments under Walz, winning the ACC Championship in 2018 and reaching seven league title games since his hiring in 2007.
